We often focus on communication activities (number of posts, event attendees, social media reach), but are we really measuring the impact of our development communication strategy? How do we know if our messages are generating meaningful changes in people's lives and in achieving project objectives?

Measuring impact in development communication goes beyond numbers. It involves understanding changes in the knowledge, attitudes, practices, and behaviors of our target audience.

Some key questions to reflect on:

  • What qualitative and quantitative indicators can we use to assess impact?

  • How can we involve the community in the evaluation process?

  • What challenges do we face in measuring real impact and how can we overcome them?

I'd love to hear your experiences and perspectives on this topic. What strategies and tools do you use to measure the impact of your development communication? Share your thoughts in the comments!
